Ethics T2 Integrity and Sound DoctrineA

Ethics T2 Sound Doctrine in Ethics

“When we talk about integrity, there’s nothing that we do that we can’t say we do, and there’s nothing that we say we do and don’t do it. Is everybody with me on integrity? All it means is that there are no secrets. It can be private; it can be personal, but there are no secrets. There are no lies. That should be a litmus test for everything we do. If I’m about to do something and say “Boy, I sure hope that nobody finds out about this,” then I’d better not do it. Integrity doesn’t mean that you tell everything to everybody; it just means that there are no secrets and there are no lies. That’s one of our values: integrity.” General Pastor Paine. Wednesday Evening Service, 8/12/09. Vision. www.pillars.net

Originally God demanded an almost emmediate scentence if you broke your integrity. Now he is waiting until most people die of old age before he requires the soul.

Job 11:20 But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall not escape, and their hope shall be as the giving up of the ghost. Job 15:20 The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, and the number of years is hidden to the oppressor. Psa 34:13-16 Ps 34:13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Ps 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it. Ps 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. Ps 34:16 The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

just and the unjust Pr 29:27 An unjust man is an abomination to the just: and he that is upright in the way is abomination to the wicked. Mt 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. Ac 24:15 And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

“Another value is Sound Doctrine. Jesus said he came to offend. In context, that means that he came to tell the truth. In ministry, we believe some specific things about doctrine because they’re in the Bible. And I’m not going to apologize for something that’s in the Bible. I know some churches are willing to stand so near the edge because they’re afraid of offending anybody. We don’t apologize for sound doctrine. Now that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use wisdom. Jesus taught in parables, because people have to hear things how they hear them.” (Pastor Paine. Message: Vision. 8/12/09. www.pillars.net)

“I am come to bring a sword…”> This is the prediction of danger of domestic violence if we let our feelings get out of control.

Mt 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

Mr 8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Mt 5:13 ¶ Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Mt 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Mt 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Mt 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Mt 5:17 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. Mt 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Ps 49:4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp. Ps 49:5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about? Ps 49:6 ¶ They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches; Ps 49:7 None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

Mt 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. Mt 21:44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder. Mt 21:45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them. Mt 21:46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

Mt 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

ACTIONS, NOT WORDS, ARE THE GREATEST MEANS OF SELF- PRAISE. There are times when you will be asked to put yourself forward, to compete for a position or a contract, and you will have to speak about your accomplishments. Naturally, you will want to put the best foot forward. Be certain, however, that when you do so, you are confident that honest inquiry will support what you say about yourself. If your actions have been wise and responsible, the record will show this. Leaders in any organization are those who say, “Let’s get going. Let’s do something rather than wait around to see what happens.” When your past actions demonstrate that you are a person who accepts responsibility and shows others the way, your career and relationships will benefit you accordingly. These two Values alone Integrity and Sound Doctrine are linked and need some focus on for a moment. Scripture states:

Matthew 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

“Even the disciples needed to reminded that you can have unbelief mixed with your belief. You can have lack of faith mixed with your faith.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

“When we’re trusting in the Lord, sometimes we think that God isn’t leading us to a good place. Maybe it would help to say out loud, “God has a good outcome planned for me.” What does that mean if we can just say that in our prayer life, when the bills aren’t paid, and the kids are crazy?

Every movie worth watching where there’s a hero who won a victory has a moment when the hero doesn’t look like he’ll win. If Rocky just knocked out everyone in the first punch, it wouldn’t have been such a great movie. What makes you think your life will just be victory after victory after victory?

Trust in God allows God to speak to us through his word and his Holy Spirit. The message today is that you would ask yourself, ‘God, am I trusting you with every area of my life? Am I yielding to you with every area of my life?’”

Pastor Paine. Trust In The Lord. Sunday Morning Service, 7/12/09. www.pillars.net

So the more transparent we are while private the better we are at sound Doctrine. And the more Honest we are: the better our integrity. The Stronger we are in these two areas the higher we can AND SHOULD set our Ethical standards.
