Ethics X5 Halloween and the Golden Rule

  Ethics X5 Halloween And the Golden Rule

WILLING COOPERATION PRODUCES ENDURING POWER, WHILE FORCED COOPERATION ENDS IN FAILURE. No civilization based upon the unjust treatment of its people has ever endured. A tyrant may force the cooperation of others for a time, but that power is never sustained. Only when people are accorded the respect they deserve do they willingly create and maintain successful organizations and societies. When you build a company or an organization based on fairness and justice for every member, you have built a power that will long endure. The best way to secure the commitment and unending cooperation of others is through the simple application of the Golden Rule. It is the most successful and long-lasting management theory ever developed. When you treat others as you would like to be treated were you in their situation, you will inspire loyalty and enthusiastic cooperation. Set high standards for yourself and others, treat them well, let them do their jobs, and they will perform miracles for you. October 15, 2009. www.naphill.org

Keeping this in mind we will briefly revisit the Golden Rule. Then we will describe why Halloweens original principles do not allow for it. And then we will examine some ways Christians can use Halloween of today to minister to others.

The Golden Rule is summed up in Christs words Like so:

Mat 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

His Apostles repeated it slightly Differently to different types of people they even wrote examples:

Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only [use] not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Eph 4:2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;

1Th 3:12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all [men], even as we [do] toward you:

1Cr 8:9 But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak.

1Cr 8:10 For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol’s temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols;

1Cr 8:11 And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?

It is Likewise with Halloween. If a Person is strong enough to know he has a way out of a situation where he/she is worshiping God in his/her heart, yet it appears he is worshiping Idols to them that don’t know the whole story either: don’t do the action or make certain everyone aware of your actions know what is in your heart towards God about that. Now here is where it can get dicey. I don’t Like no Guard-rail and no space between the road and the Cliff. You may need to give different people information about what your doing at different times. Try not to joke about it unless it will help ease the tension and still keep you in Gods will:

Mat 10:12 And when ye come into an house, salute it.

Mat 10:13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

Mat 10:14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

Mat 10:15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment, than for that city.

Mat 10:16 ¶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

Mat 10:17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

Mat 10:18 And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

Now we are not taking any verse out of Context here but the key set of words that will save your soul is:

Mat 10:16 ¶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

The rest of the above can be considered food for the weaker so long as you emphasize Mat 10:16.

Now we will describe why Halloweens original principles do not allow for unconditional Brotherly Love.

A) The very Words commonly used by Children saying “Trick or Treat” mean that if you don’t treat them right, regardless of what you believe they are asking the Spirit to destroy you and your life.

Luk 9:52 And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.

Luk 9:53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.

Luk 9:54 And when his disciples James and John saw [this], they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

Luk 9:55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

Luk 9:56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save [them]. And they went to another village.

B) If anyone is counting how many times anyone is forgiving until 490 times then anyone planning on failure. Faith and fear have the same definition. Stop counting!

Mat 18:21 ¶ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

Mat 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

Hbr 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Luk 6:37 ¶ Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Luk 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

God’s not necessarily counting. However he asking for penitent hearts and actions

Jhn 8:7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

Jhn 8:8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.

Jhn 8:9 And they which heard [it], being convicted by [their own] conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, [even] unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

Jhn 8:10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

Jhn 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Finally in this last set of points we will examine how to minister during Halloween. For The saved, passing from this life to the next can be considered the Hallowed Weening- the passage from carnality to everlasting life.

Those that are Baptized in Jesus name are especially learning exactly where the Author is coming from. There are many Verses and whole bible studies in www.cfcmi.org that explain this.

Some key links there are: When we accept that we need to be baptized, we are accepting the need to turn away from (or repent of) our sins, which marks our spiritual death. When Jesus died on the cross, he who was without sin died in the place of each of us. So his blood was shed as a covering for our sins (Hebrews 9:22-28, Hebrews 10:18-22). This blood is applied to our life, through belief, when we are baptized into Christ (Galatians 3:27, Colossians 2:10-15). Now, because of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, we have the victory over sin. When we are totally submerged under the water, we are following Christ’s burial by burying our former life and its sins. When we come up out of the water, we are rising to live a new life in Christ, just as Christ resurrected (Romans 1:4-6, Romans 6:1-6, Philippians 3:8-11, 1 Peter 3:20-21). All of the above points show that baptism is essential for salvation. Without it, we still have our sins.

Another good point is On Judgment Day, all sinners will stand before God, and their deeds will be judged by His word (John 12:44-50, Hebrews 6:10, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 1 Corinthians 6:3). The righteous will not have to give account with the sinners on Judgment Day because they are judged as they live (1 Peter 4:17-18). The penalty (or “wages”) for sin will be pronounced upon all sinners (Romans 6:23, Revelations 20:11-15). Judgment is final: there is no appeal or repentance afterwards (Ecclesiastes 8:5-8). http://www.mychristianfellowship.org/core_judgment.php

So thats our pruning check, lets get into action. One good way to minister on Halloween is to have you and your Children dress up with Robes and staves, or angels, even adults as Jesus, Moses, Joshua. Any kind of ancient armor can pass as saved warriors from the Bible.

When they go to the door the Children can say: “God Bless you.” Or “Jesus Loves you.” Or “God be with you.” Also look at the opening and closing of the Letters written to the Church in the New Testament. Another help can come from Proverbs, and Psalms.

The Last Point is the Jack O’lantern. There is no Difference between using the Jack O’lantern and worshiping Idols. Both are meant to signal a House that is afraid of spirits, and wants to scare evil away. Making Satan happy he has instilled fear yet another year. A Cross on your porch- glowing -helps. Maybe a lone candle or lantern:

Pro 6:23 For the commandment [is] a lamp; and the law [is] light; and reproofs of instruction [are] the way of life:

Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Mat 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Mat 5:17 ¶ Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

And to separate Tasting death from not tasting death:

Mar 9:1 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power.

As mentioned halfway through, be Wise as serpents with Halloween. Yet harmless as doves with Halloween.

Thats the Talk. Thats the Walk.
