Intro to the Sieges:
Seeing there was no real Army left to fight within the walls, I make it a point to have the battles fought outside the gates as the Armies of the Host if Israel moved through the Land. I use magic users only within the Gates of the Cities because its logical they would defy Gods Spirit entering their turf.
YOU HAVE SELECTED TO ATTACK BETHEL.
- Siege of the Bethel
The Israelites had gathered so far: Siege machines. Huge monstrosities that were going to attack the people on the walls of the cities under attack without destroying the walls themselves. A neat little trick. Captain Jodgel was the man who was appointed leader of the men of valor who were assigned to use the siege machines. He had acquired 15,000 Oxen to help him in the task.
The first city to be attacked was a city of the Hittites Called Bethel. Joshua asked for seven priests to blow their horns from the Engines. Jodgel Complied as the First Hittite (Bethel) city was approached, huge catapults from within the city began firing on the Engines This did not halt the movement of the Israelite engines. The men aboard the Engine unleashed a cloud of arrows. One catapult went silent but the second one was still in action. The Men on the Walls, stayed low, knowing the engines were coming. The Bethelian Catapult managed a direct hit on the oxen team of the engine furthest from the wall. Jodgel ordered another cloud of arrows. The second Bethelian catapult went silent. The Israeli Engines Catapult went into action, directing a huge stone at the third Catapult. It missed but scattered the ammunition for the catapult. The Enemy began working on getting the new stone in place, to hopefully fire back with it. 15 minutes went by. The Stone was in place but the Israeli engine was overlooking the wall and the Israelites could see the stone was about to be fired. They showered the area with more arrows, and sent a dozen burning bushes into the enemies third and fourth catapult before they could be fired again. Both Catapults went silent. The Bethelians set up a turtle of shields around the catapult. They still had the stone and tried to prepare to fire it again. The Israelis attacked the wall and captured it. The Stone from the Hittite Catapult went hurtling into the siege engine, knocking it away from the wall. The Oxen strained. The Engine remained standing. the Israelites continued to flood into it and up to the walls top. The third and fifth engines arrived, and the Cities inhabitants went insane with anger. They all attacked without regard to typical safety as the Spirit of God moved them to anger. Striking with every last inhabitant, the Hittite city called Bethel brought the Israelites to a stand still for a little while, only because they were too busy killing the attackers to be able to move into the inner portions of the city. In an hour the battle was over.
