The sayings of Jesus: Where did they come from? Where are they going?
Ps 78:1 ¶ Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth. Ps 78:2 I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old: Ps 78:3 Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us. Ps 78:4 We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done. Ps 78:5 For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children: Ps 78:6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
The Generation that is learning this is the Christian Generation. The Christian Nation. The Dark sayings of Old are the summary of the Commandments. Described by Jesus. The Prophecy here was fulfilled by him as we will see in a bit.
Ps 106:2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise? Ps 119:171 My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes. Ps 145:7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.
Jesus teaches Righteousness.
“The high priest, when he got anointed, they didn’t do like we do nowadays, just a little bit on the forehead. They would pour everything. So this oil would go through everybody; everybody would get anointed. So this verse says it is as the dew of Hermon. Hermon is a big mountain, very high, by the dead sea. So the dew would cover all the smaller mountains. So everybody would get covered. Is this true for the opposite? Yes, in the opposite, everybody gets covered also.
Jesus is talking about unity, that it is the most important thing for the church. He gave his life for the church; he would be willing to do anything to keep the unity and harmony. As brothers and sisters, we should be willing to do anything to keep this unity and harmony, also.
John 17:20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
He wasn’t just praying for his disciples then, but for you and me also.” Pastor Ullysse. 2010. http://www.pillars.net/newsletter/service-notes/2010-04-25/these-things-doth-the-lord-hate-he-that-soweth-discord-among
Zec 14:11 And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited. Mt 13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world. 1Co 14:9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air.
So the the Books are written. The KJV Bible and all History. So we can learn from it all.
Mt 18:35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. Mt 25:34 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: Mt 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. Mt 26:42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. Lu 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Lu 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Joh 6:32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
The next thing we should consider is that Christ lived in such a way as to teach us. In this fashion he was allowed to lay down his life and take it back again to prove the entirety of Gods Power.
Joh 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
Joh 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? Joh 12:27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. Joh 14:7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
1Ti 1:2 Unto Timothy, my own son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.
2Ti 1:2 To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
2Pe 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Eph 2:14 ¶ For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Eph 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; Eph 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: Eph 2:17 And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
‘1 John 5:19-21 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life. Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
In this passage, we read “we know; we understand; we have confidence”. What I got in this passage is the fact that knowledge brings forth action. Knowledge un-acted-upon doesn’t get you anything. If you know to do something and you do it not, no one will ever know what you know. What have we got to show for our knowledge, for our belief? Many times we stand at crossroads, at decision-points in our life. The woman caught in adultery She could continue in what she knew, or she could follow Christ Peter He could re-surrender his will to God and allow God Barnabas He could keep silence and not cry out, or he could go against everyone and cry out to Jesus for help Abraham He could stay with his family or he could trust God In some people’s eyes, talking to God is prayer, but God talking to us is a diseas. “You say that God talked to you, huh? Uh-huh.” But God talked to Abraham, and Abraham knew that God wasn’t asking something of him that was too great.’ Pastor Thomas. 2010. http://www.pillars.net/newsletter/service-notes/2010-05-02/stepping-out-in-faith
Following this line of thought we realize we have been taught how to obey the spirit so well that we are equals to the flesh of Christ, though not equal to his Spirit itself as described a moment ago: Seeing his presence is beholding the Father itself. Nevertheless it is good to know we can serve in such a fashion to be equal to his works. And even surpass them, using his name.
Joh 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
Php 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Php 2:6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: Php 2:7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: Php 2:8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
“THE MAN WHO DOES HIS JOB PRECISELY AS HE WOULD DO IT IF HE OWNED THE BUSINESS MAY SEE THE DAY WHEN HE WILL OWN THAT BUSINESS OR A BETTER ONE. The best –managed companies are those in which management creates opportunities for employees to own a piece of the business through various types of stock-ownership programs. Management has found that when individual employees are also owners, they are more loyal, more creative, and more cost-conscious. They also work harder and are more responsive to customers. If you have the opportunity to participate in employee stock programs, do so. If possible, extend the same opportunity to your employees. If such programs are not available to you, conduct yourself as though you were already an owner, and sooner or later you will be. It is inevitable that when you think like an owner, you will eventually become one.” Napoleon Hill Foundation. March 4, 2010 www.naphill.org
“AMONG the numerous advantages promised by a wellconstructed Union, none deserves to be more accurately developed than its tendency to break and control the violence of faction. The friend of popular governments never finds himself so much alarmed for their character and fate, as when he contemplates their propensity to this dangerous vice. He will not fail, therefore, to set a due value on any plan which, without violating the principles to which he is attached, provides a proper cure for it. The instability, injustice, and confusion introduced into the public councils, have, in truth, been the mortal diseases under which popular governments have everywhere perished; as they continue to be the favorite and fruitful topics from which the adversaries to liberty derive their most specious declamations.” James Madison. Federalist Papers. he Union as a Safeguard Against Domestic Faction and Insurrection. From the New York Packet. Friday, November 23, 1787.
So the sayings -even the name- of Jesus are coming from God and going to us in this present life.
