Who Is This King Of Glory? Part 2 of 3

Who Is This King of Glory? (part 2 of 3)

Mike Jackson

For this week, we're talking about the Old Testament God, and how God communed with man in the Old Testament. Then we're going to look at the New Testament as it relates to prophecies of the Messiah. Next week we'll put it all together by looking at the New Testament and how God communes with man today.

We looked at the Godhead last week, especially as it contrasts with the doctrine of the Trinity.

In the times of Isaiah, the people had many different cultures and many different gods.

Who Is This King Of Glory, Part 1 of 3

The title of this study comes from Psalms 24. "Who is this King of Glory" is something that a lot of people want to know.

We will be covering the following subjects:

  • The King James Bible and other versions
  • Historical References
  • Manifestations of God and God's Roles

The Godhead is one of the most misunderstood doctrines in Christianity today.

2 Timothy 2:15
  1. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
2 Timothy 3:7
  1. Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Definition of Godhead

Strongs Greek 2304 theios (from 2316) Divine in nature or essence.

Godhead

Does it affect you that the Christmas decorations are right next to the Halloween decorations? For most people, the answer is "no," because it's all about commercialism anyway. I went to another church before I came to this one, but they didn't teach me the gospel. They taught me to show up every Sunday and shake everyone's hand and so-forth. But in this church, one of the first things I heard was "Don't believe anything I tell you; look it up for yourself."

2 Timothy 3:16
  1. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

All scripture. That's what we're going to study tonight. I didn't bring any other books with me; we're going to study the Bible.

One God

God is not Schizophrenic

Many people see the God of the Old Testament differently from the God of the New Testament. Which one do you think this phrase describes?

  • Fearful looking for of judgement and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries

How about this one?

  • Merciful, gracious, longsuffering, abundant in goodness and truth

You might be surprised to find out that first phrase is found in the New Testament, while the second is found in the Old Testament.
