Why The Bible? (part 2 of 3)

Last week, we talked about faith, and how the Bible helps us have faith. We talked about why people go to the Bible for their answers.

Testimonies

If there is anything in the Bible that

Richard Brand There are many times when I feel like I've hit rock-bottom and can't get up.

Proverbs 18:14
  1. The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?

When your spirit is stronger than your flesh, it doesn't matter what you go through.

This series has been a well for me. It is providing the water that will help me grow and carry on.

Four Signs of a Sensible Steward

  1. Responsible
  2. Relaxed
  3. Ready
  4. Rewarded

Jesus gave us two commandments that the whole rest of the Bible is built on. Those were to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength; and to love our neighbor as ourself. Stewardship is the application of those two commandments.

There are two books in heaven, the book of life and the book of works.

Stewardship

You only get one shot at each minute of your life. What are you doing with them? Nobody can lift their hands and say, "I always do my best." But you only get one chance; there's no reincarnation in this life.

Love

Love

We're going to start with the "Love Chapter", which is 1 Corinthians 13. When you get time, you should read the whole chapter.

1 Corinthians 13:1-2
  1. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
  2. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

You could have the power of God to move mountains, but if you don't have love, then you're nothing.

1 Corinthians 13:13
  1. And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Charity is greater than faith. You can't get into heaven without faith, but charity is even greater.

When It's Time

If you seek God for wisdom, he will give it to you, through tribulation, patience, experience and hope.
